Re-patterning the underlying grid of colonialism

as an honest gesture for walking towards peace and justice for all

There is an underlying grid to the colonialism and the colonial-settler genocide. The pattern has a strong momentum and has been weaving itself for at least 250 years in its final form. Such a deep pattern that shapes educational models, medical systems, economical and political systems, to a degree that it can even sell immorality and numbness as spiritual-work of a “new age” will not just vanish into thin air by just calling for peace. It will need re-patterning of thoughts, life styles, our relationship to life and meaning of life, all the way up to restructuring social systems. The genocide in Palestine is the tip of an iceberg at the size of the whole planet, 250 years long aka American dream.

Re-patterning the underlying grid of colonialism

The dream not only starts by occupying land, committing genocide and ethnic cleansing of the indigenous, but by forcefully applying a value system that dismantles the core values of any other culture and tradition that holds communities together. Community not just in the sense of a group of people living together, but a web of relationships with land, with life cycles, with ancestors, with belonging to meaningful universe, with a developmental path directed towards wisdom. It brings the multi-layered disconnection in a package with labels such as, women getting their rights to vote, success, freeing slaves, democracy, equality, freedom, progress… so well packaged that anyone would immediately buy and rarely choose to examine the quality and depth of its contents.

That camouflage is only possible when a certain value system is universalized and forcefully applied to any other value system that is labeled as backwards, religious, under-developed, un-evolved, premodern, barbaric etc.

If there is supposed to be an end to this, a re-patterning of the underlying grid, it can not escape from rediscovering and reclaiming the diverse value systems of humanity, the moral compasses of the ancestors and the wise and the saints, while getting unhooked from the hypnotic power of words that operate like trojan horses and dismantle our cultural immune systems, like human rights, democracy or under-development.

Another re-patterning could be to stop lending hope and agency to institutions and structures that are working on top of the grid therefore will always work towards protecting the grid, even if they are run by people with good intentions. Institutions like UN, ICC, WHO, global NGOs, governments in general, modern politicians, even educational and scientific institutions.

Another would be to stop lending the framing of our thoughts to the media outlets and their “analysts” and “experts” on the subjects. A re-patterning would be to start to make sense, to co-author meaning in self-organizing communities around meaningful subjects.

Another re-patterning would be to turn towards elders and keepers of wisdom at times of crisis instead of turning towards products of the same grid that is the mother of almost all the systemic-structural crisis at the global scale.

Another re-patterning is to avoid turning things that are meant to be held as sacred into weapons and products of the underlying grid. To name a few, spiritual practices, personal feelings, collective traumas, femininity, motherhood and fatherhood, art in general, dreams and images that arise from the soul.

Alternative patterns are probably meant to be discovered by each person and each group. Take the above just as examples to make a contrast, not as defined solutions…

The point is, from what we are observing, it is highly unlikely to see a re-patterning at the global scale at large unless there is a divine intervention, which is always possible. At a deeper level, the grid is fueled by attention, hopes, dreams and agencies of billions of people who lend them to its structures. On a layer above that, by votes, taxes, excessive consumerism of stuff and constructed realities by mass media, which energetically carry the agency, hope and trust beside the financial fuel. So you have bombs dropping on civilians trapped in a concentration camp which are purchased by tax money of millions of good hearted people who completely disidentify with violence; a designed world-order, orchestrated and maintained by elected representatives.
